Modeling real life design process – experience stages of design brief, design development, model-making and design critique.

Duration:

  • One week (five day experience) or One term (sessions programmed over a term)

Main features:

  • Develop design ideas in teams in response to a brief, creating models and presenting design schemes to peers and industry professionals
  • Visit inspiring places – learning outside the classroom
  • Working with built environment professionals and university students
  • Working in teams on relevant and engaging design briefs, designing, drawing, model making
  • Possible themes: sustainability, community, public spade, public art, heritage, planning
  • Could include small scale ‘live-build’ element
  • Cross curricular experiences

Outcomes:

  • Develops student’s confidence, team work, presentation and citizenship skills
  • Opportunity for Arts Award (Discover, Explore or Bronze) accreditation
